Office Christmas party

Today was the office Christmas party.

In the morning, the CEO went around the rooms to judge the Christmas decorations. The leader of the Christmas decor team in my room pulled out all the stops. People were still busy adding more decorations to the room when I left work yesterday. This morning the lights were switched off and the whole room was lighted up by the orange glow of table lamps and Christmas lights. The leader also got everybody to gather at the entrance to welcome the CEO when he entered the room. Needless to say, we won.

I was glad that the Christmas decorating period was over. I was getting very irritated by someone who kept telling me that I was “creative”, “artistic” and I’m the “creative director”, “mastermind” of the Christmas decorations for my team. The first time I was told by that someone that I’m “creative” and “artistic”, I was so pissed that I curtly replied back, “No, I’m not.” It was only when I saw the other person was a little shocked that I tried to be a little nicer.

Lunch was the Christmas party. Someone managed to booked a table so all of us could sit together. Being with friends made the party more fun. LSW brought her iPhone along and kindly let me play with it. I was so caught up in the game, which involved crushing ants and cockroaches invading a picnic, that I didn’t noticed when DD came up to our table to say hello. Suddenly I heard a lot of noise and I looked up to see everyone looking at me and DD standing with her hand outstretched, waiting for me to shake it. Yikes!

Food was ok and some dishes were quite nice. I ate a lot. It felt like there were less dishes this year and Blackhole confirmed it. The games were after the meal and DD came to sit at our table. I looked over at the bosses’ table in the middle of the room and noticed it was empty as everyone there had dispersed. After the games, came the lucky draw. There were 10 prizes and they were quite good. The top prize was an iPod touch. So that’s why there were less dishes this year. Of course with my kind of luck, I didn’t win anything again.
